How does Great Leadership Feels Like? Let's Imagine This
|
What are the key topics for High Performance Leadership? This week I was attending a masterclass organised by IMD presenting their signature program: High Performance Leadership. And you will be surprised what their key topics are...
Collaboration, relationships, emotions, purpose, self-discovery, psychological safety, etc. At Hive17, we believe that transformational business success is based on highly effective teamwork. It is great to get this confirmation from the big guys. |
Looking at these ingredients for successful leadership, it is important to understand what this means for yourself. How does this people-focused leadership look like? More importantly, how does it feel like?
Here are some pointers from my experience, how we can imagine highly collaborative, empathetic and trustworthy leadership. And I am curious to hear what your thoughts are...
Here are some pointers from my experience, how we can imagine highly collaborative, empathetic and trustworthy leadership. And I am curious to hear what your thoughts are...
- Within the leadership team we are going beyond holding each other accountable; we practice a shared accountability and all peers are supporting each other; the team has a strong and positive interdependence.
- Across the organisation, customer insights and market opportunities are transparently shared; every team has a deep understanding of how they are contributing to the value creation for the customers.
- People are coming to you as a leader and share great ideas; these are not only interesting, they are aligned with the company strategy; there are no barriers to sharing and dialogues around ideas is always considered as learning opportunities.
- When you interact with your employees, it feels like it is buzzing and we experience a high, positive energy going around; people love their work and support each other.
- As a leader, you feel that the organisation knows what is required to do and things fall in place; and you have finally time to focus on the important things
Sure, this is idealistic. And it is good to have this guiding imagination which directs us toward curious leadership. This helps to walk along the path of change and bring your leadership team along this leadership transformation journey.
